bill: where are you on this today, bob? >> first of all i think republicans would pay a price for not going along with this. the idea of a million, millionaire tax basically what we're talking about here is something i can not imagine there are too many millionaires in most of these districts. from a political standpoint have everybody get a tax on 1st of january they would blame the republicans no question about it. press would. i would. most of democrats and president would. here's the deal. of course boehner will have to get something for this. the question is it on entitlements? yes. can you get entitlements written by end of this year? of course not. what has to be whatever the deal is some date certain when they report out a change to entitlements with some figure attached to it. now, and if not they could come back and, undo the tax rate increase. that is only way i could see they do it. >> the problem is --. bill: did you want to respond, andrea i'm sorry? it is your anniversary. i should respect that. >> where is t

bob corker the u.s. senator said this is just for show, this is purely optics, the president is not sincere. what do you think? >> well this is not for show, this is a last-ditch effort by the president to bring the congressional leaders together to try and get at least a small package, a small deal together before the new year to avoid some of the tax parts of the fiscal cliff, and to deal with some of the unemployment issues. so, the president is very determined to try and do it, as you know, the house of representatives packed up its bags and went home. they are not even coming back until sunday night even though the clock is ticking. gregg: you call it a small deal. don't americans deserve something more than a small deal from what is arguably small politician stph-s. politicians? >> well when i say a small deal i don't mean an unimportant deal especially in fact as you've been reporting on january 1st people's taxes will start to go up, a big tax hike for middle class americans and others. the bill

i want to show you a poll that was on "hot air" this morning, then we'll get to bob. it says which approach do you prefer. to reduce the deficit. this poll is 800 people who voted for president obama. they are split in the middle. 41% say mostly tax increases with some spending cuts. but the same number want mostly spending cuts with some tax increases. 5% of these obama voter say they want tax increases only. but 10% of the people who voted for obama in this policy they want spending cuts only. bob, where are we here? >> it looks a little confusing except when you look at history of polling. norquist is a blowhard and a bully. it's not surprising people want more spending cuts and less taxes. that's not a surprise. martha: that's not what they are getting in the white house package. >> if the republicans would give up on 2% tax rates nobody would have to worry about anything. >> bob, obama-care already taxes the middle class. the majority of the country do not want to be taxed. what they don't know already is everybody is getting a tax increase because of obama-care.
